Regardless of where you are, it’s a good possibility that there are lots of decorative native plants that will work in your landscape.

Another way to adapt your landscape to what kind of climate you have is to incorporate some tropical or Mediterranean landscape plants into your plans. A good thing about some tropical plant varieties is that they actually do very well in colder climates. Look around and see which tropical plants are doing well in your area well and you’ll have even another planting option. For most areas, there are enough tropical plant choices to make your landscape stunning with every season.

Another key to an all-climate landscaping design is diversity. Try using plants with different bloom times and patterns. This way, even when one type of plant dies at the end of the season, you’ll still have more stuff blooming in your yard or garden.
